Nestled between the Yellow River and Bohai Sea, Dongying in East China's Shandong province has continually harnessed its unique wetland resources since its establishment in 1983.

In recent years, the city has undertaken projects focusing on wetland protection, restoration, and integration into urban areas, enhancing the interaction between its wetlands and the urban environment.

In 2018, Dongying was recognized as part of the world's first batch of "International Wetland Cities".

Today, the city boasts an array of water bodies, including scenic lakes such as Qingfeng Lake, Qiuyue Lake, Yuela Lake, and Swan Lake. Wetlands encompass an area of 4,567 square kilometers, making up 41.58 percent of the region's total area. In this harmonious environment, wetlands coexist with urban development, creating a flourishing landscape.
