The Double Ninth Festival falls on the ninth day of the ninth month on the Chinese lunar calendar. In Chinese folklore, the number nine as the largest digit is also a homonym for a word which contains the auspicious meaning of "a long and healthy life".

Shandong, the birthplace of Confucianism, boasts a deep-rooted culture of blessings and longevity. Beyond Mount Tai, numerous lesser-known sites for seeking blessings and longevity are scattered across this historic land.

The rare and unique character shou is carved into the side of Yunmen Mountain because it too contains the auspicious meaning of "a long and healthy life" and has a rigorous structure and elegant form.

Laoshan Mountain in Qingdao boasts a unique attraction known as Shouzi Peak. This spot is inscribed with the character shou in different styles that have been painted red for added visibility.

Yaowang Mountain, Dong'e county, Liaocheng, is renowned as a place where blessings, longevity, and peace gather. The mountain is adorned with over 300 species of medicinal and ornamental plants, creating a serene and healing environment.
