Binzhou strives to become industrial powerhouse

Print PrintBinzhou in East China's Shandong province has been ramping up efforts to boost the city's strength in manufacturing, and move the manufacturing sector toward higher-end, smarter, and greener production, in a bid to become an industrial powerhouse.

On Feb 10, the city held a working conference, which underlined the importance of advancing new industrialization and boosting the development of the manufacturing industry. The conference also discussed the key tasks for the city's industrial economy in 2023.
Local authorities said that Binzhou plans to fully implement the requirements of the Shandong provincial conference on high-quality development of the industrial economy and the action plan for strengthening the province's advanced manufacturing industry.
Manufacturing is important to Binzhou's economic growth. In recent years, Binzhou's industrial economy has maintained stable improvement in quality and quantity. Industrial enterprises above designated size in the city accounted for 9.2 percent of the province's total, ranking third in the province.

In 2022, Binzhou ranked 66th among the national top 100 cities with advanced manufacturing industries, 12 places higher than the previous year.
Song Yongxiang, Party secretary of Binzhou, said that this year, the city adheres to the strategy of building a strong manufacturing city and a three-year action plan is underway to expand industrial clusters and increase industrial added value.
Song added that the local government will insist on taking high-quality development as its primary task, focus on promoting structural adjustments, transformation and upgrading, and accelerate the development of high-end, intelligent and green manufacturing.
