Shandong will ramp up efforts in the construction of major projects and new infrastructure as part of its overall drive to foster long-term, sustained, innovation-driven and high-quality development in 2023, according to local authorities.

Recently the Shandong Provincial People's Government issued a list of major provincial-level key projects in 2023, which consisted of 602 ones, and they involve a total investment of 2.5 trillion yuan ($370.75 billion).

There are 297 modern industrial projects with a total investment of 867.6 billion yuan; 137 infrastructure projects with a total investment of 1.3 trillion yuan; 113 platform projects with a total investment of 234.9 billion yuan, as well as 55 social and livelihood projects, with a total investment of 139.5 billion yuan.

Constructing key projects is expected to help boost domestic demand, expand effective investment and stabilize the overall economy, local officials said.

As a major provincial project this year, the Jinan Rail Transit Line 6 has a total length of 40.1 kilometers and 33 stations, and is the backbone rail transit line connecting the eastern and western parts of Jinan. Construction workers worked during the Spring Festival holiday to speed up the construction progress.

Shandong also plans to implement key projects mapped out during the period of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and projects in the five-year plan for transportation development to increase effective investment.
