Shandong province's 50 time-honored brands and intangible cultural heritage enterprises benefited big from the fifth China International Import Expo (CIIE), which was held in Shanghai from Nov 5 to 10.

The Shandong time-honored brand and intangible cultural heritage experience hall received 70,000 visitors during the expo, with on-site sales volume amounting to 6.53 million yuan ($927,997). Meanwhile, Shandong enterprises received letters of intent worth a total of 71.5 million yuan.

The Shandong exhibition area was set up with sections covering food, drinks, clothing, art and medicine. Business people at home and abroad were able to sample the regional Qilu cuisine, taste fragrant Lu wine, admire traditional and beautiful clothing and artworks, and learn about medicine, as well as other Shandong products at the expo.

Since the establishment of the Shandong pavilion at the third CIIE, Shandong has become the first province in the country to set up a pavilion to display local time-honored brands and intangible cultural heritage enterprises at the CIIE.

Thanks to the CIIE, Shandong enterprises have expanded the national market in the Yangtze River Delta region, as well as tapped into the global market, which has greatly driven the development of regional characteristic industries. Many Shandong enterprises' products have been sold to France, Australia, Germany, Japan, South Korea and other countries and regions, which has helped promote Shandong time-honored brands overseas.
