The Chinese Wine Technology and Quality Development Conference and 2022 Annual Conference of CADA'S State-level Appraisal Judges of Wine were held in Yantai, which is located in East China's Shandong province, on Aug 14.

More than 150 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and industry leaders from home and abroad attended the event, and shared their views on how to improve the technology and quality of Chinese wine, and promote the high-quality development of the national wine industry.

A total of six enterprises in Yantai were recognized as high-standard and high-quality wine-producing bases, and are expected to continuously expand the advantages of Yantai's wine industry, and polish up the brand of Yantai wine.

Boasting a long history of making wine, Yantai has grown into the largest wine-producing base in China, and has also won global fame for its wine culture.

"Yantai is the birthplace of China's wine industry, as well as a traditional and advantageous area for producing wine. Over the past decades, Yantai's grape and wine industry have been at the forefront of the country, and the wine industry has grown into one of the city's pillar industries. Yantai is home to more than 200 wine enterprises and 60 renowned chateaus, including Changyu Group, China's oldest and largest wine maker. The wine from Yantai has received approval from consumers around the globe," said Ma Chunliang, an official with the State Administration for Market Regulation.

With its high-quality products, Yantai's wine regions achieved an output value of 10.23 billion yuan ($1.51 billion) in 2021, topping other production regions across the nation.
