Yantai receives national demonstration city for IP protection honor

Print PrintYantai, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, was selected as a national demonstration city for the construction of a strong city for intellectual property protection, according to a notice released by the the China National Intellectual Property Administration on Aug 4.
A total of 38 cities across the country have been approved as a national demonstration city for the construction of a strong city for intellectual property protection, and their position as a demonstration city lasts from July 2022 to June 2025.
In recent years, Yantai has boosted intellectual property protection, and rolled out the all-round and mature protection of intellectual property rights and regulations, aiming to build a good environment for business.
Local authorities said that since last year, the city released a number of guidelines to strengthen intellectual property protection, motivate innovators, and promote the application of intellectual property rights in a bid to build Yantai into an innovative and protective intellectual property highland in China.
According to official data, Yantai authorized a total of 1,599 invention patents in the first half of this year, up 25.6 percent year-on-year, and the number of active invention patents issued in Yantai reached 11,926, a year-on-year increase of 23.5 percent.
Yantai's intellectual property industry has developed rapidly over the past year. In 2021, there were five projects in Yantai that won the 22nd China Patent Award, and 18 enterprises were awarded provincial honorable titles for patent cultivation.
