Jining high-tech zone thrives on 30-year development pattern

Jining National High-tech Industrial Development Zone has made significant achievements over the past 30 years, such as an improved economy, rapidly growing high-tech and emerging industries, and an optimized industrial structure, officials said at a recent press conference.
The zone, which occupies 2.3 percent of Jining's land area, has generated more than 10 percent of the city's regional gross domestic product (GDP).
The zone's GDP was 53.19 billion yuan ($7.94 billion) in 2021, along with fixed asset investments of 27.7 billion yuan, import and export volumes of $2.37 billion, and an industrial output value above designated size at 60.23 billion yuan.
The zone has developed four major modern industrial clusters of high-end equipment, health care, new-generation information technology, and new energy and materials, and the scales of which accounted for 58 percent, 79 percent, 17.5 percent and 57.9 percent, respectively, of Jining's total.
A number of leading companies, such as Komatsu Shantui, Lukang Pharmaceutical, AVOVE, and Cisen Pharmaceutical, have become a strong driving force behind the high-quality development of the local economy.
High-tech products produced in the zone have sold well in 180 countries and regions around the globe.
As a high-tech innovation hub, the zone has 208 technological innovation platforms above the provincial level and 185 high-tech companies that account for one fourth of the city's total.
It also has two Nobel laureates, 12 domestic and foreign academicians, 23 national-level talents, over 300 foreign professionals and about 35,000 industrial high-caliber professionals working in the area.
In addition, the zone has developed a comprehensive transportation network combining airports, a high-speed railway and expressways.
The living environment has also been greatly improved, with the green coverage rate reaching 45.5 percent.
The per capita disposable income of urban residents reached 47,815 yuan.
