The events were held both online and offline due to the current COVID-19 outbreaks nationwide. A number of media outlets opened up interactive channels for live broadcasting to attract more online participants from across the world.
The vegetable sci-tech fair, themed "Green, Science and Technology, Future", has a main exhibition area of 450,000 square meters and an indoor exhibition area of 165,000 sq m, including 10 pavilions, a picking garden, solar greenhouse high-yield cultivation areas, a vegetable museum and a square exhibition area.
The fair is designed to demonstrate new technology, new varieties, new achievements and new ideas in the vegetable industry and related fields from around the world.

The vegetable seed industry expo displays more than 4,000 excellent vegetable varieties at home and abroad. It will also carry out online activities such as variety evaluations, observations and promotional events to help cultivate more high-quality seeds and ensure China's food security.
In recent years, Shouguang has been working hard to integrate into the construction of the Weifang National Pilot Zone for Agricultural Opening-up and Development, as well as build a national vegetable comprehensive service base facility. It is home to 12 national agricultural research and development platforms. The local application rate of the agricultural internet of things has reached 80 percent.
Efforts have been made to promote seed research and development, industrial standard setting, digital agriculture, and the development of the ready-to-eat food industry. The city has taken the lead in realizing agricultural modernization, which has contributed greatly to rural revitalization.
