Jinan strives to become modern international metropolis

The Jinan government released its main targets to develop into a modern international metropolis at a conference on July 23.

Sun Licheng, Party secretary of Jinan, gave a detailed explanation at the conference.

The city is making efforts to promote the development of the Shandong provincial capital economic circle and the ecological construction of the Yellow River basin.

By 2025, the construction land of urban areas will reach about 850 square kilometers and house a permanent population of about 10 million.

The city is working to promote development by integrating industries, science, and culture. By 2025, a modern industrial system is expected to have basically taken shape.

The city's forest coverage rate will reach more than 26 percent by 2025, and the number of days with good air quality is expected to reach the national and provincial standards.

Also by 2025, the city's general public budget revenue is expected to increase by more than 35 percent over 2019, and the per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents is expected to rise by 45 percent and 55 percent respectively.

Jinan is making efforts to promote a highly developed transportation network. By 2025, the city is expected to have 65 international flight routes and about 300 kilometers of rail lines. By 2035, a comprehensive international transport hub will be basically completed in the city.
