Print PrintEast China's Shandong province has issued guidelines on the implementation of the national government's so-called "26 measures", which aim to provide more development opportunities and equal treatment to Taiwan enterprises, according to the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of Shandong.
In 2018, the mainland unveiled preferential policies known as the "31 measures" to provide Taiwan residents living on the mainland the same treatment as mainland citizens.
In November 2019, a new set of policies called the "26 measures" were introduced. Formulated by the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office and the National Development and Reform Commission, the measures allow Taiwan-funded companies to take part in the mainland's key industries, such as major technical equipment, 5G and civil aviation.
The companies will also have more equal access to financing, trade relief and import and export facilitation.
According to Shandong authorities, the guidelines clearly define the responsible departments, policy basis, procedures, and consultation windows, so that Taiwan compatriots and Taiwan enterprises can enjoy the convenience and benefits of the "26 measures".
"We provide further policy support for Taiwan-invested enterprises to expand investment opportunities in accordance with our industrial development plans," said an official from the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of Shandong.
Official data showed that from January to November 2019, Shandong approved 142 Taiwan-funded projects, up 40 percent year on year, with actual investment from Taiwan amounting to $560 million.
