Shandong-Taiwan Economic and Trade Fair to open in Weifang

The 24th Shandong-Taiwan Economic and Trade Fair will be held from Sept 1 to 4 in Weifang, Shandong province. 

The event will focus on promoting Shandong and Taiwan industries and on trade between the two sides. Some of the industries which will be prominent at the fair include information technology, high-end equipment, new energy and new materials, modern high-efficiency agriculture, and health care. There will also be a focus on the exchanges of high-caliber professionals and technology.

One themed event and eight special events and exhibitions have been planned for the trade fair, which will have the theme of “New Era, New Momentum, New Development".

More than 20 industrial and commercial organizations such as the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Industry and Commerce, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Federation of Industry and Commerce, and the Taiwan Association of Listed Companies are expected to send delegations to participate, with over 700 distinguished guests and exhibitors from Taiwan attending the trade fair in Shandong.

The fair will set up five major exhibition sites, with themes including smart manufacturing, big health, cultural creativity, specialty foods, and Taiwanese counties and cities. 

It will invite relevant guilds, companies and businesspeople from across the Taiwan Straits to negotiate, purchase and trade with their Shandong counterparts. Exhibition activities for fruits and agricultural products will be specifically arranged with the aim of introducing Taiwan fruits to the Shandong market. More than 200 Taiwan-funded companies have been confirmed to attend. 

At the same time as the event in Weifang, field trips and special events including "2018 Taiwan Business Elite Trip to Mount Tai", "2018 Shandong-Taiwan (Dezhou) Modern Industrial Cooperation Symposium", and “2018 Binzhou-Taiwan Modern Agricultural Exchange Cooperation Seminar” will take place in over 10 cities throughout the province, including Jinan, Qingdao, Yantai, Tai’an, Dezhou and Binzhou. It will also be organized for Taiwan delegations pay field visits to these cities to discuss cooperative opportunities in industrial projects. 

The Shandong-Taiwan Economic and Trade Fair has been successfully held annually since 1994, and has become an important platform and driving force for cross-Straits economic and trade exchanges and cooperation. 

To date, Shandong has accumulatively put into operation 5,814 Taiwan-funded companies, with Taiwan investments in the province reaching $26.2 billion.
