Print PrintAs a key venue for the 26th Shandong Provincial Games, the Linyi Olympic Sports Park in Linyi, East China's Shandong province, is transforming from a traditional stadium into a dynamic urban hub blending sports, cultural tourism, and commerce.
Spanning 1218 mu (81.2 hectares) with a total floor area of 485,000 square meters, the park combats the common issue of large venues falling into disuse after large events. By hosting over 50 major sporting events above provincial-level and numerous commercial concerts, it attracted more than 1.3 million visitors and generated an estimated 1.1 billion yuan ($158.1 million) in comprehensive consumer spending in 2025 alone.
Beyond competitions, the facility also serves as a public sports and fitness center for residents. It offers training programs in nine disciplines, including basketball, swimming, and fencing, nurturing nearly 5,000 young athletes so far to bolster the city's talent pipeline.
Commerce is seamlessly integrated, with flagship stores for automotive and sportswear brands like Li-Ning, alongside themed dining and leisure venues. This creates a vibrant social and shopping ecosystem that keeps the venue bustling. Such a holistic approach ensures the park's sustainable operation, contributing valuable insights into the high-quality management of large-scale sports facilities.
