The latest government work report of Shandong province extensively highlights Yantai, mentioning it in over 20 instances as a key economic grower in the province. These references include acknowledgments of development achievements and expectations for key initiatives in 2025.

Over the past year, Yantai has actively responded to Shandong's vigorous industrial development initiatives.

After nearly three years of construction, the Yulong Island Petrochemical Integration Project began operations on Sept 25, 2024. This project, one of Shandong's largest industrial investments in recent years, holds significant importance for the restructuring of the petrochemical industry.

When summarizing breakthroughs in green transformation, the report repeatedly highlights Yantai with examples such as Haiyang's nuclear energy heating being selected as one of the country's first green and low-carbon demonstration projects, and the "International Zero-Carbon Islands Cooperation Initiative" being launched at the COP29 United Nations Climate Change Conference.

Regarding infrastructure development, the report mentions the operation of the Weifang-Yantai High-Speed Railway and the launch of the second phase of Yantai Penglai International Airport. These developments will play crucial roles in enhancing connectivity within the city, the province, and even the nation.

2025 marks the conclusion of China's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and is also a significant year for further comprehensive reform.

Yantai is expected to accelerate the development of a commercial aerospace park and construct a future industrial leading zone to high standards. Additionally, the city will promote collaboration with Dalian, Liaoning province, to support the revitalization of Northeast China. The construction of Changdao International Zero-Carbon Island and the Dingzi Bay New Energy Innovation Zone are also given top priority.
