Shandong has created a total of 72 national-level marine ranches to date, leading the nation in both quantity and scale, and established China's first marine ranch observation network.

Meanwhile, the province has emphasized technological innovation, model innovation, and policy innovation, integrating the development of intelligent deep-sea fisheries and paving the way for the nationwide exploration of deep-sea aquaculture.

To encourage the development of facility-based fisheries, Shandong offers subsidies for building new facilities or upgrading existing aquaculture setups. The province is home to more than 20 million cubic meters of industrialized aquaculture waters, accounting for approximately 20 percent of the national total.

Moreover, Shandong is actively promoting the holistic development of the fishery industry chain. It has established 38 large-scale processing bases and parks, with the total volume and output value of its aquatic product processing ranking first nationwide.

The province is also focusing on expanding the new functions of fisheries, promoting integrated development encompassing fishing, recreation, dining, and accommodation. The total output value of the province's leisure fisheries has ranked first in the country for seven consecutive years.
