The inaugural World Conference of Classics officially began at Beijing Yanqi Lake International Convention and Exhibition Center on Nov 7.

The event is being jointly organized by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, China's Ministry of Education and Ministry of Culture and Tourism, as well as the Ministry of Culture of Greece and the Academy of Athens.

Attending were over 485 distinguished scholars from more than 30 countries and regions, including 186 international participants; this landmark event marks the first global gathering dedicated to the study of classical civilizations.

With the theme "Classical Civilizations and the Modern World", the event aims to trace the roots of human thought, summarize the wisdom of human history, and explore the traditions of human civilization from the perspective of classical studies.

By fostering deeper understanding and appreciation of different cultures, the event seeks to strengthen the foundation for intercultural dialogue and provide insightful solutions to global challenges. Ultimately, the event aims to contribute to the advancement of humanity and help work towards a community with a shared future.
