Shandong tourism sees significant growth during National Day holiday

Shandong province experienced a surge in tourism during the recent National Day holiday, with key metrics demonstrating robust growth.

According to the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, 200 monitored tourist attractions across the province welcomed a total of 26.086 million visitors that spent 1.5 billion yuan ($212 million). These figures represent year-on-year increases of 14.1 percent and 12.3 percent, respectively. The province's 15 5A-level scenic spots alone received 7.63 million visitors, with an average daily attendance of 1.09 million.

Furthermore, the number of inbound tourists exceeded 53,000, marking a significant 33.2 percent increase compared to the previous year. The holiday also witnessed a surge in overnight stays, with 13.59 million tourists choosing to stay a little longer.

Jining also reported impressive tourism figures. 23 monitored attractions in Jining received 3.17 million visitors, generating a revenue of 170 million yuan, with year-on-year growth rates of 10.6 percent and 11.7 percent, respectively.

The robust tourism performance during the National Day holiday underscores the growing importance of the cultural and tourism sector in driving overall consumption and boosting consumer confidence. The province organized over 8,000 festive events, attracting more than 43 million participants and generating over 2.3 billion yuan in direct consumption.
