The ongoing fourth Qingdao Multinationals Summit offers a communication platform for multinational enterprises, promotes deeper understanding and closer communication between enterprises, and provides a channel for multinational enterprises to seek business opportunities in Shandong province and the Chinese mainland, said Chiang Tung Keung, the chief executive officer of CLP Group.

Chiang told China Daily that he is happy to communicate with leaders, government departments and business representatives to integrate professional technologies and common pursuits to promote the sustainable development of Shandong province, China and the world.

Chiang said that CLP, the largest foreign power investor on the mainland, began investing in power plants in Shiheng, Heze and Liaocheng in Shandong province in the late 1980s. In light of the increase in demand for clean energy in Shandong and to contribute to the country's efforts to fulfill its dual-carbon reduction goals, CLP has developed wholly-owned wind farms in the three cities: Penglai, Laizhou and Laiwu in Shandong province.

He noted that the company's projects in China currently have a combined production capacity of nearly 600,000 kilowatts. In addition, CLP has been exploring business opportunities in energy storage in the province.

"We look forward to participating in more green new energy investment projects in Shandong as this would allow CLP to play a greater role in Shandong's carbon reduction efforts," Chiang said.

Founded in 1901 and headquartered in Hong Kong, CLP is one of the largest private power companies in the Asian-Pacific region. CLP started doing business on the Chinese mainland as early as 1979 and its portfolio includes renewable energy, nuclear power, coal combustion and energy storage.
