Agreements for a total of 103 projects in fields such as infrastructure and environmental protection were signed during the ongoing 2023 Green, Low-carbon and High-quality Development Conference in Yantai, Shandong province on Aug 29.
The three-day conference gathered officials, experts, representatives of multinational companies from home and abroad to explore ways to drive green, low-carbon, high-quality development and contribute to China's "dual carbon" goals. China is aiming to peak carbon dioxide emissions before 2030 and realize carbon neutrality before 2060.
Shandong is currently in the midst of building a pilot zone for green, low-carbon and high-quality development, provincial governor Zhou Naixiang said at the opening ceremony of the conference on Tuesday.
Collaboration, technology sharing, and financial support are crucial to forging a path of sustainable progress that benefits all, said Mahinda Abeywardana, speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka.
Abeywardana also spoke highly of Shandong's efforts in building the pilot zone and expressed wishes to explore potential avenues for meaningful and practical cooperation with China in greening the economy and reducing carbon emissions.
The China-Norway International Cooperation Center was also launched with the support of the Yantai government.
The conference was hosted by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, China Association for Science and Technology and Shandong Provincial Government.
