Chen Yansong, a young archer from Jinan, and his teammates Du Meiyu and Wang Shikun beat their French opponents 231 to 224 and won gold in the Compound Men's Team Archery event at the FISU World University Games in Chengdu on July 30.

This was Chen's first time taking part in the world university games.

Chen said that he wishes to stay committed to his archery dreams and achieve greater accomplishments in the future.

"He is a very responsible and disciplined student, and he often practices archery by himself," said Ma Yajie, Chen's senior year head teacher. "We are all happy that he has clinched the gold medal. He is the pride of Jinan and Shandong."
