A time-honored street in Lijin county, Dongying, East China's Shandong province, is a hit with tourists who are interested in intangible heritage culture.

There, visitors can appreciate the natural scenery of the Yellow River, experience traditional folklore, taste food with a special flavor of the Yellow River estuary, as well as local intangible culture heritage items.

On both sides of the narrow street, there are delicacies, such as fried buns and Beiling meat balls, handicrafts that reflect local intangible culture heritage items, as well as tourism commodities with local characteristics. Tourists can also enjoy cultural performances, such as Yellow River gongs and drums, as well as old Yangqin, which all reflect the unique local culture and traditions.

Since the street opened on Feb 26, a fair is held twice a week attracting tourists from across the country.

Officials said that the old street takes intangible cultural heritage items as its pillar to create a benchmark for cultural tourism in the Yellow River Basin.

With the model of less investment, more participation, and common prosperity, the old streets and alleys have driven more than 2,000 people in the surrounding areas to increase their incomes.

From April 18 to 19, the Yellow River Culture Forum will be held in Dongying. At that time, a series of colorful events themed around Yellow River culture will also be launched to contribute to the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River basin.
