As the first unequal span parallel bridge crossing the Yellow River, it will set a new record for bridges crossing the river after construction is completed.
The project will serve as a main road connecting the Jinan Start-up Area for Growth Drivers Transformation and the old city.
The bridge is 1,028 meters long and 37.5 meters wide, and its maximum span reaches 488 meters. The bridge's towers are vase shaped and 168.6 meters tall. The bridge has two decks, which include a two-way eight-lane highway upper deck and a two-lane highway lower deck.
The Jinan Yellow River Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge with two towers and two cable planes, said Han Wei, leader of the project.
The original bridge, which was completed in July 1982, had a maximum span of 220 meters, making it the largest span bridge in Asia at the time. The height difference between the new bridge and the original bridge is 24 meters.
