A two-day forum on Yellow River culture will open on April 18 in Dongying, East China's Shandong province to promote the profound culture of the Yellow River, "China's mother river", and to further spread the story of the Yellow River around the world.

Jointly hosted by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the China Public Relations Association, and the Shandong Provincial People's Government, the forum will gather cultural experts, scholars, and officials from across the country to discuss the core characteristics of Yellow River culture and its contemporary values, the development path for the protection and inheritance of Yellow River culture, as well as ways to better present the values of Yellow River culture in the new era.

Centering on the theme of "carrying on Yellow River culture and telling the story of the mother river", the forum will carry out dialogues on how to write a new chapter of the international communication of Yellow River culture and how to strengthen the sense of a community with a shared future of the Chinese nation by promoting Yellow River culture.

While inviting participants to make keynote speeches and develop academic exchanges on the Yellow River culture, the event will also include a ceremony launching a strategic partnership of the nine provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions in carrying on Yellow River culture, as well as presenting Yellow River stories.

The Yellow River Cultural Research Institute, jointly established by Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Shandong Academy of Social Sciences and Dongying city, will be inaugurated.

A cooperation platform will also be set up to promote international communication regarding Yellow River culture.

In order to showcase the cultural inheritance of the Yellow River basin and the achievements of related innovative cultural products, the organizers will also hold an exhibition highlighting the handicrafts, folklore, and traditions along the Yellow River.

Over 80 items related to traditional arts and skills, intangible cultural heritages, and innovative cultural products in the Yellow River basin area will be on display to enable visitors to feel the long-standing Yellow River culture, and to strengthen awareness for protecting, inheriting, and promoting Yellow River culture.

A cultural performance on Yellow River culture will be held at the Dongying Snow Lotus Theater to complement the forum.

In addition, forum participants will also be invited to visit the Yellow River Delta National Nature Reserve where they can experience the ecological beauty of the Yellow River, as well as fully understand the new changes and achievements made in Shandong to advance the ecological conservation and high-quality development of the Yellow River basin.

The ecological conservation and high-quality development of the Yellow River basin is a major national strategy of China, and efforts have been made in fields involving ecological protection and restoration, water conservation and inheritance and promotion of the Yellow River culture.
