Pre-made dish sector booms in Shandong

A media delegation visited the prefabricated cuisine industrial park in Jinan, Shandong province on March 30 to learn about the development of the local pre-made meal sector during the "Walking along the Cultural Corridors, Visiting the Economic Parks, and Witnessing Shandong's High-Quality Development" event.

The prefabricated cuisine industrial park in Jinan is the first of its kind built in a provincial capital. Covering an area of over 26 hectares, with a total construction area of about 720,000 square meters, the park involves a combined investment of about 10.2 billion yuan ($1.48 billion). It will be constructed in three phases.

The park can house over 2,000 enterprises when it is put into operation. It is expected that the annual sales of meat and aquatic products will hit 2.6 million metric tons, and the annual production of prepared dishes will be 500,000 tons, with annual revenue reaching 20 billion yuan, creating more than 30,000 jobs.

Shandong is an economic powerhouse and a major agricultural base in China. Its output of vegetables, meat, eggs, and milk ranks first in the country, as does its output value of food processing. Currently, Shandong has more than 8,500 enterprises engaged in the burgeoning precooked foods segment, gradually forming a complete industrial chain.
