Oriental white stork lays first egg in Year of Rabbit in Dongying

Good news! An oriental white stork laid the first egg in the Year of the Rabbit on Feb 2 in the Dawenliu Wetland Restoration Area of the Yellow River Delta National Nature Reserve in Dongying, Shandong province. Check out the video to see the amazing moment!

A pair of oriental white storks were observed repairing their nests while taking turns incubating their egg. The stork's egg incubation period is about 30 days.

In recent years, the breeding number of oriental white storks in the Yellow River Delta National Nature Reserve has increased each year thanks to the continuous improvement of the wetland ecology, the scientific research monitoring level, as well as the development of oriental white stork research.

The Yellow River Delta National Nature Reserve now boasts 1,630 animal species and 685 species of plants. The number of bird species has risen from 187 to 371, according to the reserve's management committee.
