Sun Yiqian, the chief technician of a listed chemical company, often makes a quiet impression. She is a delegate to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Sun joined the Shandong Hualu Hengsheng Chemical at the age of 21 after graduating from a technical school in 1993. As an operator, she had to climb high-rise towers with bare hands and check more than 1,000 pipelines one by one.
Over the past 30 years, she has been shuttling through a "steel jungle" of chemical plants, and has grown from a green hand to chief technician.
Her hard work has been recognized. She has been named as a National Technical Expert, National Excellent Communist Party Member, and National March 8th Red Banner Holder. She was also a recipient of a special subsidy from the State Council, China's cabinet.
In 2000, Sun was designated to lead a new project. She knew that it would be a new area for her and was determined to devote herself wholeheartedly. At that time, she worked more than 12 hours a day and rarely took breaks.
The project was a success with Sun and her colleagues' joint efforts. Five years later, Hualu Hengsheng increased its production capacity to 230,000 metric tons, becoming the world's largest dimethylformamide manufacturer.
