The robust manufacturing industry is a demonstration of Shandong's confidence and strength in hosting the World Advanced Manufacturing Conference, Dazhong Daily reported.

Shandong is home to a diverse array of industries. The output of more than 100 key products ranks among the top three in China, and that of more than 40 products ranks first in the country.

Shandong is home to 31,600 manufacturing enterprises above designated size, among which 18 have been listed in the 2022 China Top 500, and 362 have been named as national "little giant" companies, the third most in the country.

In 2021, the operating revenue of Shandong's industries above designated size reached 10.2 trillion yuan ($1.48 trillion), the third highest in the country, with its manufacturing industry reaching 9.2 trillion yuan.

In the first half of this year, the added value of the high-tech manufacturing industry in Shandong grew by 15.5 percent, 10.7 percentage points higher than that of industries above designated size.
