The Inaugural International Conference on Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Global Business (IEGB) was held online in Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, from July 9 to 10.

Hosted by Shandong University of Finance and Economics (SDUFE), the conference invited experts, scholars and entrepreneurs from home and abroad to discuss the latest views on cutting-edge innovation, enterprise development and global business in order to provide new solutions for global economic development in the post-COVID-19 era.

Professor Zhao Zhongxiu, President of Shandong University of Finance and Economics, delivers an opening speech during the conference. He said that innovation is an important engine for economic development and a driving force for social progress. It is of great significance for stabilizing and expanding employment, promoting common prosperity and achieving high-quality development to stimulate the vitality of innovation and entrepreneurship in the whole society.

Zhao also noted that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of Shandong University of Finance and Economics. After 70 years of development, the university has made progress in discipline development.

The university plans to continue to build its academic brand and improve its international education level, and provide solutions for high-quality development of the global economy, Zhao added.

Six foreign experts, including Professor Daniela Baglieri from the University of Messina and Professor Andrew Godley from the University of Reading, shared their research results and thoughts on topics such as the development experience of an innovative and entrepreneurial ecosystem, the meaning of entrepreneurship and innovation in uncertain times, and the role of social capital in innovation and entrepreneurship during the keynote speeches.

Professor Liu Yipeng, Founding Dean of the Yellow River College of Business and Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, presided over the conference. More than 500 people from government institutions and colleges, including the Jinan municipal foreign affairs office, Zhejiang University, Lanzhou University and Guangdong University of Technology, attended the conference, which attracted more than 15,000 viewers.
