Shandong to cultivate more highly-skilled personnel

The Shandong Provincial People's Government recently released a plan for vocational skills training during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25) to cultivate more highly-skilled personnel.

Shandong will beef up efforts to advance vocational skills training during the 14th Five-Year Plan period and it will remain employment-oriented to suit market demands.

The province will improve the lifelong vocational skills training system and improve the quality and capacity of vocational skills training.

It will expand the scope of use for vocational skills training funds, launch large-scale and multi-level vocational skills training programs, and expand enrollment in vocational colleges. A number of bases for training highly-skilled personnel will be opened.

Shandong will focus on key regions, industries and enterprises to strengthen vocational skills training around the needs of the province's major development strategies.

It will continue to promote the deep integration of industry and education, and continue to enhance the vocational skills training capabilities of application-oriented undergraduate schools, senior high schools and other vocational colleges.

It will support various vocational schools and training institutions to provide training.

More work will be done to advance the training of highly skilled talents in advanced manufacturing and modern service industries in the province.

By 2025, the province is expected to be capable of carrying out subsidized vocational skills training for more than 5 million people, including more than 1.5 million migrant workers.

The province aims to have more than 3.8 million highly skilled personnel by 2025.
