The world's first deterministic network was launched at the unveiling ceremony for the Shandong Future Network Research Institute and Shandong Future Group on Feb 23 in Jinan, capital of Shandong province.

According to an industry expert, a deterministic network offers deterministic data paths for real-time applications with extremely low data loss rates, packet delay variation, and bounded latency, such as audio and video streaming, industrial automation, and vehicle control.

The deterministic network, which covers 16 cities in Shandong province and spans 5,600 kilometers, was developed by academician Liu Yunjie and his team.

Relying on the deterministic network, Shandong will accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements.

A number of typical application scenarios have been created with Shandong Energy Group, Shandong Lingong Construction Machinery Co, Inspur, the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University and COSMOPlat, a first-of-its-kind industrial internet platform developed by Haier that specializes in unmanned driving, remote surgery, and computing power sharing.

Shandong is working to accelerate the construction of the digital government, digital society and digital economy. The province is speeding up the construction of its digital infrastructure for 5G networks, digital centers, and 5G industrial clusters.

Efforts have been made to stimulate the vitality of the digital economy, enhance the efficiency of the digital government, optimize the digital social environment, set up a digital cooperation structure, and build a strong digital security shield.
