The 4th China Opera Festival kicked off in Jinan, Shandong province on Oct 13. It will run until November via online and offline channels.

As this year marks the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the festival features revolutionary themes to celebrate the successful path that the CPC has forged in its history.

The average ticket price of the festival's various performances is no more than 100 yuan ($15.64) to attract more audience.

"The Chinese Opera Festival is an important platform to showcase artistic creation and promote the prosperity and development of the revolutionary cause," said Wang Xinfu, vice governor of Shandong province, at the opening ceremony of the festival.

Yimeng Mountain is based on true revolutionary stories that took place in Shandong's Yimeng Mountains during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45). Its story shows how local villagers offered tireless dedication to millions of CPC-led soldiers, aiming to showcase their hard-working spirit and selfless dedication.

The China Opera Festival has been held three times since 2011. This year's festival includes 24 selected works, with 48 shows being staged in seven cities across Shandong, including Jinan, Qingdao, and Yantai.
