Costa Rica has established a close relationship with China, said Rodrigo Delgado Soto, ambassador of Costa Rica to China, in an interview during the International Conference on Food Loss and Waste in Jinan, East China's Shandong province, on Sept 10.
"Our country is also a signatory of the Belt and Road Initiative, and we are contributing as much as we can to enhance the relationship and the cooperation between the two countries," said Soto.
Costa Rica is looking forward more cooperation in agriculture with China.
"Now, we have an experimental laboratory already in my country that is developing hybrid seeds, especially for rice," Soto said, adding that most of the technologies come from China.
"We're also looking for establishing more relationships in terms of artificial intelligence, automation and advanced equipment for harvesting," Delgado said.
He also said the conference will promote cooperation and enhance people's understanding and mutual trust among countries in the future.
