A smart fishing cage was put into use in Yantai, a coastal city of East China's Shandong province on May 15. It is the largest deep-sea smart fishing cage in Asia in terms of production.

The "Jinghai No 001" smart cage is part of the project to build 100 deep-sea cages in the sea near Changdao Island and develop it into the largest fishery breeding base in Asia. The project will be constructed by Yantai Jinghai Marine Fishing Co.

The cage will serve as a smart platform for breeding deep-sea aquatic animals. The platform is powered by wind energy and can perform automatic breeding, underwater monitoring, and underwater net washing.

Yantai Jinghai Marine Fishing Co said that it will integrate related resources to promote mass production and drive the development of the marine fishery industry chain, including engineering technology, biotechnology, aquaculture, processing, as well as cold chain transportation.
