As the Grain Rain, the last traditional Chinese solar term in the spring, started on April 20, the sea cucumber harvest season officially began in Rongcheng, Weihai, East China's Shandong province.

Recently, sea cucumber collectors have been busy fishing sea cucumber in an aquiculture area in Hushan town, Rongcheng. Sea cucumber cultivated in Rongcheng has long proved popular with consumers for its large size, tender meat, and nutrient rich content.

The total yield of sea cucumber production in Rongcheng was 29,000 metric tons in 2020, generating a total output value of about 6.02 billion yuan ($930.56 million). It has has become one of Rongcheng's pillar industries to increase the incomes of local fishermen.
