Industries inject new impetus into county economies in Jinan

The Jinan government will be ramping up efforts to help districts and counties develop leading industries with distinctive features to bolster the high-quality development of the local economy.

More efforts will be made to promote intelligent transportation equipment manufacturing in Laiwu district, high-quality steel in Gangcheng district, food production in Jiyang district and biomedical chemical industry in Shanghe county.

This year marked the beginning year of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25). Zhangqiu district has set a goal of making the list of China's top 50 districts in next three years, said Ma Baoling, Party chief of the district.

In line with Jinan's Yellow River development strategy, the district plans to build four clusters focusing on innovation, intelligent manufacturing, cultural tourism and Yellow River ecology.

Gangcheng district will promote the upgrading of its steel industry and develop a high-quality steel industry cluster. The district will also develop industries such as auto parts, intelligent manufacturing, new materials, new energy, energy conservation and environmental protection.

Jiyang district is currently home to more than 100 food enterprises covering sideline food processing, food manufacturing, beverage manufacturing, and food packaging.

Changqing district is actively fostering high-end equipment and intelligent manufacturing industry and has achieved industrial agglomeration.

The district currently has 102 high-end equipment and intelligent manufacturing enterprises above designated size. The output value of the industry reached 11.1 billion yuan ($1.72 billion), up 12 percent year-on-year in the first three quarters of 2020.

Shanghe county has introduced a series of industrial projects in 2020. In 2021, the county will focus on fostering six industrial clusters worth 3 billion yuan each.
