"The American Chamber of Commerce in China will continue to support Shandong's opening up and the development of a strong business environment," said Greg Gilligan, chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) China.

He made the remarks during an online panel discussion at the "Connecting Shandong with Fortune Global 500" USA special event, which was held on Sept 29 in Jinan, capital of Shandong.

"Shandong is China's third largest economic community and a supply chain center for important components of Sino-US trade, including equipment manufacturing, chemicals, agriculture, and energy," said Gilligan.

According to Gilligan, AmCham China has maintained regular exchange and communication with the leaders of Shandong province, the provincial department of commerce, Jinan, Yantai, Weihai, Jining, Binzhou, Qingdao, and other cities since the "Shandong American Business Week" was held in 2017.

He also shared his insights into Sino-US economic and trade relations.

"At the moment, we should be focusing on and working toward 'equivalent information communication'," he said.

"We believe that enabling the Chinese and American governments to obtain more consistent information from companies is one of the most effective ways to solve the contradictions between the two countries."
