Shuangquanzhuang village, a remote village tucked away in the hills in Mashan town, Changqing district, Jinan, Shandong province, has become a popular attraction for rural tourism after undergoing extensive renovation.

A number of vacant residential houses have been converted into homestays over the past few years and this has attracted more visitors who are eager to experience life in rural areas. The move has helped local villagers earn additional income.

The local government has also introduced a healthcare project aimed at building a healthcare-themed complex in the village.

Locals who have benefitted from the project have been encouraged to grow herbs that can be used to create Chinese medicines. The village has cultivated more than 100 varieties of herbs including dendrobe and honeysuckle.

With its lush scenes of nature and a livable environment, the village is also an ideal destination for enterprises to organize team building activities.

Besides hiking, camping and cross-country activities, visitors can also learn about traditional Chinese medicine.
