Recently a 15-member expert team and 23 tons of medical equipment were sent from East China's Shandong province to the United Kingdom to help overseas Chinese protect themselves from the epidemic and help in the country's fight against the novel coronavirus.

The team from Shandong has brought with them valuable experience and knowledge about epidemic prevention and control to help people in the UK, especially overseas Chinese students and workers at Chinese-funded institutions and enterprises.

They also offered various medical supplies, including traditional Chinese medicine, to Chinese students studying in the UK.

Lin Cunguo, president of the UK-Shandong Association, sent a thank-you letter to the Shandong expert team.

"This letter, on behalf of all overseas Chinese in the UK, expressed our gratitude," said Lin.

"We feel a bond with China and are grateful that we weren't forgotten amid the pandemic."

Combating the novel coronavirus outbreak is now the top priority for the entire world, with Europe becoming the new epicenter of the pandemic.

Lin said that the epidemic situation in Europe continues to worsen, and Chinese living abroad are feeling very anxious.

"The arrival of the Shandong medical team couldn't be more fortuitous. We feel safe and reassured thanks to the help and guidance of our compatriots from Shandong," said Lin.

"We will cooperate with the Shandong team to help more people in the fight against the epidemic."

The UK-Shandong Association is designed to strengthen ties between Shandong fellows, friends and relatives living in the UK, as well as help fellows work together and cooperate with each other in solidarity.
