Since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Shandong People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries has been striving to keep foreigners in Shandong province informed about prevention and control measures against the virus.
The association has set up several 24-hour hotlines for foreigners to offer them advice on how to protect themselves from the virus.
The association did its best to keep in contact with partnered international organizations and has received a number of telegrams from such organizations expressing support and solidarity.
Some of the organizations have also held activities to support locals in Shandong province, according to the secretariat of the association.
"As a doctor of medicine, I have been very concerned about the fight against the coronavirus in China. I hope Japan and China can further cooperation and jointly prevent the spread of the virus," said Wakisaka Nobuhisa, the province's citizen of honor and head of a Japanese association for friendship with Chinese people, in a letter.
In addition, the Association for Sri Lanka-China Social and Cultural Cooperation recently held an activity to convey the Sri Lankan people's support for the people of Shandong.
Indrananda Abeysekara, president of the association, said: "We all wish the people of Shandong well and hope they stay healthy throughout their fight against the virus."
