The Chinese Football Association announced the eight host cities of the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup and 10 host cities of the 2023 Asian Cup on Dec 28.

Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, was among the cities which will host the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup in June and July, along with Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Shenyang, Hangzhou and Dalian.

The Jinan Olympic Sports Center, the event venue, will be upgraded in preparation, local authorities said.

The FIFA Club World Cup is an international soccer tournament hosted by the Federation International Football Association (FIFA) and will involve the top teams from six continents.

Hosting the Club World Cup and the Asian Cup will be a major boost to China's soccer industry and infrastructure.

With more and more Chinese brands going global, the soccer industry is increasingly focusing on the world's most populous nation.
