Singing, ballet, and violin performances were held on Nov 16 in Rongcheng, a county-level city in East China's Shandong province, to welcome the thousands of migratory swans who take up residence in the city every winter.
The swans can mainly be seen in Yandunjiao community, Yinghua Lake Park, and a national nature reserve in the area.
The local tourism sector takes full advantage of the phenomenon to attract as many tourists as possible. Swan-themed museums and hotels have been built and drawing and photography activities are held to ensure the tourist money flows in.
Meanwhile, the local government has implemented a series of measures to enhance the protection of swans. These measures include cleaning muds, upgrading sewage disposal systems, and introducing appropriate plants to the habitat.
