China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, also known as Sinotruk Group, ranked 81st among global IoT companies and 22nd among Chinese IoT companies, according to a list recently released at the 2019 World Internet of Things Convention (WIOTC).

The list includes the top 500 IoT companies in the world. Sinotruk, one of China's top heavy vehicle manufacturers, was the only Chinese automobile company to make the top 100. China's Huawei Technologies Co took the top spot on the list.

In recent years, China's Sinotruk has been stepping up efforts to develop internet of things technology and products. The company aims to integrate cutting-edge intelligent technologies and use GPS to build an IoT ecosystem for smart heavy vehicles.

Sinotruk is a pioneer in using intelligent networks in commercial vehicles in China. The first unmanned 5G-connected vehicle, designed by the company, began undergoing testing in Jinan in January.

The driverless electric truck HOWO-T5G, equipped with the Beidou Satellite Navigation System, laser radar, and millimeter-wave radar, can stay on the road in adverse conditions such as foggy and rainy weather and can travel up to 120 kilometers with a full load.

The company's unmanned bus is also capable of operating in bad weather and is equipped with a high-definition camera, laser radar and integrated navigation and positioning. The bus will operate in airports, industrial parks and communities.
