Talking about the expectations of the Qingdao Multinationals Summit, Shawn Whitman, FMC Corporation's Vice President of Government Affairs, said, "I think there's probably lots of opportunities, even if we don't have actual manufacturing in those locations. Often we sell products to those areas. So you know, we're always interested in learning and exploring with a lot of the Chinese officials, as they try to grow and better not only the Chinese economy, but the environment here for the people."

He also believes that holding the summit is also a manifestation of China's further opening up. 

"I think generally any time that you can open up and have more clear understanding around policies and regulation is a good thing. That's what tends to unlock investment, whether that's foreign or domestic, so we would welcome any of those kinds of opening up policies."
