Yantai semiconductor technology services platform was launched at Yantai Economic and Technological Development Area (YEDA) on Aug 15, making it the first of its kind in Shandong province.

Jointly built by the Mige Laboratory and the Shandong Zhiyu Intellectual Property Operation Center, the platform is set to attract high-end talents or lab resources from home and abroad and also focus on the marketization of technologies in the fields of semiconductors, chips and new materials.

Accordingly, YEDA has a slew of leading semiconductor companies in the design, materials, sealing and testing fields including Yantai Raytron Technology Co, Barbond Co and CECEP Valiant Co.

The city is making efforts to implement its advanced manufacturing cluster program and by 2020, the total value of its semiconductors industry is expected to hit 10 billion yuan ($1.44 billion).
