Yantai's gross domestic product totaled 417.2 billion yuan ($59.43 billion) in the first half of 2019, ranking 21st among Chinese cities, according to a list released by the 21 Data News Laboratory.

Affiliated with the 21st Century Business Herald, the institute published a GDP ranking of the top 100 Chinese cities, with 300 million views on Sina Weibo, a Twitter-like social media platform, on Aug 13.

Cities in Shandong were all among the top 100 except for Rizhao, which ranked 101th. Qingdao and Jinan, capital of Shandong, were among the top 20, ranked at 12th and 18th respectively.
