Print PrintDongying is where the Yellow River flows into Bohai Bay in Shandong province, and it boasts wonderful landscapes.
The city was established in 1983 for the development of the petroleum industry in the region. It is home to the Shengli Oilfield, which is the second largest oilfield in China after the Daqing Oilfield.
Guangrao county of Dongying was the birthplace of China's military strategist Sun Zi 2,500 years ago. The city is also the cradle of Lyu Opera, one of China's eight major opera genres along with Yue Opera and Huangmei Opera.
