To promote holistic, encompassing, tourism in the Laoshan district of Qingdao city, Shandong province, a world home appliance museum provides a special treat for visitors.

The museum opened to the public in April and combines history and technology, as well as offering an immersive experience for visitors.

In a section focusing on the history of home appliances, visitors can see how they evolved, and experience appliances that are now out of use.

In contrast, a smart home exhibition section shows how appliances can bring greater convenience.

The museum also has a food and children's interactive area, and a theater for children.

The architecture of the museum has been described as "tip of the iceberg" and it was designed by Norwegian architect Robert Greenwood. The exhibition was conceived by Atelier Bruckner who also designed the BMW Museum in Germany.

The museum was praised by Chen Qi, deputy director of the Qingdao Cultural Relics Bureau. "This is a modern museum full of creation, interaction and technology. I believe it will soon become a cultural highlight in Qingdao," Chen said.
