The 2019 "Taishan Design Cup" Cultural and Creative Design Competition commenced in Jinan, capital of Shandong province on May 7.

Under the guidance of the Shandong provincial publicity department, the event is jointly organized by the Shandong provincial departments of industry and information technology, agriculture and rural affairs, culture and tourism as well as the Shandong Cultural Creative Design Industry Association.

The contest includes six categories: public poster design, brand and packaging design, cultural product design, industrial product design, digital product design and environment and space design.

The event is divided into four stages: initiation, work collection, selection and evaluation, an exhibition of winning works and the actual production of the designs.

Participants can learn about the competition by logging into the official website. The submission will open on June 15. The uploading and copyright registration of entries should be completed before July 15.

Prize-winning works will be exhibited during the Eighth Shandong Cultural Industry Fair. The organizing committee will promote cooperation with financial institutions and enterprises to realize the conversion of design works into actual products.

The design competition has been held for two consecutive sessions, which is the largest and highest level of an event of this type in Shandong province.

A total of 7,617 works were collected in last year's edition, transforming a contract value of 33.11 million yuan ($4.9 million). Among them, 20 key projects have been included into the development plan of cultural and creative industry of Shandong province (2018-2022).
