The first Weihai Entrepreneurs Convention was held on April 30 in Weihai city, Shandong province, gathering more than 190 business elites from home and abroad to exchange ideas and facilitate cooperation.

Theme on "inviting entrepreneurs from all over the world to build a beautiful Weihai city", the event was organized by the Weihai government to promote more business opportunities and investment in new projects, in a bid to fuel the city's high-quality development and transformation of growth drivers from old to new ones.

Wang Luming, Party secretary of Weihai city, delivered a keynote speech at the conference. He gave a detailed introduction to the city and its business environment, preferential policies and the service-oriented government construction. He hoped that the event will generate more development opportunities for Weihai.

In addition, 11 distinguished guests from business circles shared their insights at the opening ceremony, including Jason Rodriguez, vice president of HP Inc, Sun Hongbin, chairman of Sunac China, Sun Pishu, chairman of Inspur Group, Lu Zhiqiang, chairman of China Oceanwide Holdings Group and Zhou Yunjie, president of Haier Group.

The attendees were deeply impressed by the beautiful ecological environment and efficient investment environment of Weihai city. They praised it as a livable and vibrant city with unique charm, strong industrial foundation and complete infrastructure. 

The city's sound business environment, favorable investment policies and one-stop government services have also strengthened entrepreneurs' confidence to invest in the city.

In recent years, Weihai has been focusing on the development and expansion of its seven major industries such as advanced equipment and intelligent manufacturing, marine life and healthy foods, fashion and leisure sports products, and health and tourism industry, with operating income reaching 361 billion yuan ($53.61 billion) in 2018.

In the next three years, the city will strive to foster an enterprise of 100 billion yuan size, 10 enterprises of 10 billion yuan size, 20 enterprises of 5 billion yuan size, 20 gazelle enterprises as well as a number of competitive companies in different industries.

Since the beginning of this year, Weihai has introduced 38 major projects with a total investment of 125.5 billion yuan.
