The Shandong Government Affairs Service Center was put into operation on Sept 14. A total of 26 provincial departments with administrative examination and approval functions and a large number of official businesses have sent officials to the center.

In order to improve work efficiency, the self-service machine in the center provides a queue number. There are two kinds of queue number; one is the number based on the department dealing with business, and the other is based on the functional area, according to a staff member.

For example, people who want to deal with agricultural business in the center can click on the category of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery at the self-service machine, and input the ID card number and mobile phone number to get the number. Then the window of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery will handle the business.

After receiving the business request, most of the delivered materials will be sent to the back office area, and the departments will review the materials.

A resident surnamed Li, who wanted to cancel a Sino-Japanese cooperation school, said that it was very convenient to deal with the business in the center. His business request involved the provincial departments of education and civil affairs, and now he can submit the applications and find the two departments in the center without a run around.

The launch of official operations in the Shandong Government Affairs Service Center marks the formation of the provincial government service system covering the provinces, cities, counties and townships. The center works as the hub of the province's governmental services. As a result, the percentage of provincial-level administrative licensing items has reached 7.5 percent. It can provide 619 provincial-level administrative licensing items and 48 kinds of public services including consultation, acceptance, handling and complaints.

The service center will continue to optimize the comprehensive service functions, actively promote online and offline functions, integrate services, explore the 24-hour service, and strive to enable the public only to come at most once to have their businesses well-handled, and create a better government service environment for the masses, said Han Lei, an official at the provincial government office.
